Volume Lash Extensions Aftercare: First 48 Hours & Week-by-Week Tips (and yes, we also hear “waxing near me” a lot)
By Contornos Studio | July 22, 2026

We hear it all the time: “Lashes last a long time.” That’s the goal, and aftercare is what protects it. The single most important rule right now is simple: keep your Volume Lash Extensions completely dry for the first 24 to 48 hours. No water, no steam, no sauna, no sweaty workouts that leave your lash line damp. If you’re in Cooper City, that humid air can sneak up on you, so those first two days matter.
Your first 24 to 48 hours: the rules that protect retention
Volume sets look dramatic because we place multiple lightweight lashes on each natural lash. That fan shape needs time to fully set and stabilize. So for the first 24 to 48 hours, we generally recommend you treat your lashes like fresh nails: hands off, keep them dry, and don’t do anything that adds heat or moisture.
48-hour “Do Not” list: no showers hitting your face, no face steaming, no sauna, no hot yoga, no swimming, no hot tub, no rubbing your eyes, and no oil-based cleanser or makeup remover near the lash line.
In the Stirling Road corridor in southwest Cooper City near the Flamingo Road intersection, it’s common to walk out into heat and humidity and instantly feel dewy. That moisture plus sweat can break down retention early. If you have to be outside, keep a clean blotting tissue with you and dab around the eyes instead of wiping.
Sleeping matters too. Try to sleep on your back if you can, and avoid pressing your face into the pillow. If you wake up and they’re a little bent, don’t panic. Let them settle and use a clean spoolie to gently brush them back into place.
Week 1 in humid Cooper City: sweat, storms, and the little habits that add up
After the first 48 hours, you can get back to real life, but week one is where most “early shedding” happens if you’re not careful. We’ve had people tell us we’re “very professional” and that their “lashes last a long time, ” and the pattern we see is simple. The ones who keep a gentle routine tend to keep their set looking fuller longer.
Here’s what to keep doing all week:
- Clean daily with an oil-free lash cleanser. Clean lashes hold better than lashes coated in makeup, sunscreen, and sweat.
- Brush nightly with a clean spoolie to separate fans, especially after showering or being out in wind and rain.
- Skip mascara and don’t use an eyelash curler. Mascara can clump volume fans, and curlers can snap extensions.
- Watch your skincare. Keep oils, balms, and heavy eye creams away from the lash line. If you use sunscreen around your eyes, go light and keep it off the base of the lashes.
And yes, pool season is real. If you swim after the first 48 to 72 hours, rinse your face with fresh water after, then cleanse gently. Salt, chlorine, and summer storms can all leave residue that you don’t want sitting in the lash line.
The simple routine that keeps Volume fans fluffy: cleanse + dry + brush
If you only do three things, do these. Clean daily, dry gently, brush lightly. That’s it.
What we mean by “clean daily” (without loosening anything)
Use an oil-free lash cleanser and your fingertips or a soft cleansing brush. Work gently at the lash line, then rinse with water. No digging, no scrubbing, no cotton pads dragging across the fans. Pat dry around the eyes, then let the lashes air dry fully before you brush.
If you’re commuting along Stirling Road and Flamingo Road and you’re running straight from errands to dinner, this routine still fits. It’s a 2-minute reset at night that keeps lash retention on track.

Refills at 2 to 3 weeks, quick fixes, and when to reach out
Volume lashes shed with your natural lash cycle, so gaps are normal over time. That’s why we recommend scheduling your fill every 2 to 3 weeks. If you like a consistently full, dramatic look, that refill window matters.
